Rigoletto - Week Three

Maestro Corrado Rovaris conducts soprano Chen Reiss as Gilda and baritone Alan Opie as Rigoletto through a piano tech rehearsal. This important rehearsal is the first time the singers have a chance to be onstage in costume, minus their wigs and make-up, following two weeks of fittings. Adjustments will be made in the following week leading up to opening night based on feedback from this rehearsal.
Rigoletto, baritone Alan Opie, warns his governess Giovanna, mezzo-soprano Allison Sanders, that she must carefully guard his daughter Gilda.

Assistant Director and Choreographer Seth Hoff takes a moment to give some notes during the piano tech rehearsal.

Assistant Conductor Laurie Rogers leads the banda, or stage band that performs backstage during the first act of Verdi's Rigoletto.

The Duke of Mantua, tenor Matthew Polenzani, is presented with a gift from his court; another girl to add to his list of conquests.

As the curtain rises on Act I, the festivities are in full swing in the Duke's grand hall with jugglers, dancers, and exotic foods.
Count Monterone, bass Kirk Eichelberger, denounces the Duke for seducing his daughter and places a curse on both him and Rigoletto.

A backstage look at one of the Rigoletto's complicated scene changes. Here, stage hands move the enormous set pieces to change from Act I to Act II.
