Norma - Week Four

Tenor Philip Webb, as Pollione, gets some final adjustments from Wig and Make-up Coordinator Cookie Jordan before heading onstage for the final dress rehearsal.

A headpiece worn by one of the many supernumeraries, who fill all of the small, non-singing roles in the opera. In Norma, many of the supernumeraries play the Druid refugees who are oppressed by the occupying Roman forces.
Supernumeraries also play some of the Druid priestesses. Here, super Leeane Huggins makes some last minute touch-ups before going onstage.

A close-up look at the Act One backdrop and set piece created by Set Designer John Conklin for this grandscale production.

The set for Norma has a raked stage, meaning that it is set on an angle and is much higher in the back than it is in the front. There is a system of steps and platforms that singers must use for all of their entrances and exits, and which many of the supers and chorus member stand on for all of the action that goes on upstage.
