Only One Chance Left to See the Show That Everyone's Talking About!
Verdi's RIGOLETTO Wednesday, October 17th at 7:30pm

More praise for Rigoletto:
"The three leads... are as fine a trio as you're likely to hear in Rigoletto today." -City Paper
"The Opera Company captures the work as Verdi meant it.... few Rigolettos are as theatrically savvy as Alan Opie, the excellent British baritone... [Matthew Polenzani's voice] came out etched with a warm sound and amazing clarity.... The best surprise was Israeli soprano Chen Reiss. Hers is a cool, precise soprano...." -The Philadelphia Inquirer
"Opie offers a spellbinding performance of immediacy and scope.... Both Reiss and Opie prove equal to the necessary operatic heavy lifting as a girlish infatuation escalates into tragedy.... Matthew Polenzani plays the Duke of Mantua as a great egocentric aristocrat with the voice to back up his swagger...." -Broad Street Review
"Even after 156 years, the power of Verdi's music and the rough drama still pack a wallop." -The Daily News
"The appeal of this "Rigoletto" is not just for the established opera enthusiast. If you've never been to the opera, now is the time." -The Evening Bulletin
"Robert B. Driver’s kinetic direction keeps it completely involving, every element framing a finely tuned vocal production....Conductor Corrado Rovaris’s muscular orchestration seemed fully engaged.... Paul Shortt’s rich production design successfully transports the audience to Renaissance Mantua [featuring] voluptuous Renaissance costumes by Richard St. Clair." -Broad Street Review

REMINDER: No Late Seating Policy and Pre-Opera Lectures
As we begin another opera season together, we'd like to remind all ticket holders that the Opera Company of Philadelphia upholds the national standard of "no late seating" once the overture has begun. Latecomers will be seated at the earliest possible break in the performance action, but this may not be until intermission.
Because the Avenue of the Arts has a thriving performance scene with many curtain times coinciding with one another, we ask you to carefully plan your travel, parking and dining to arrive with plenty of time to take your seat before curtain time. Visit our web site for tips on travel planning!
And what better way to ensure you will be on time for the opera -- and to learn about the performance you are about to see -- than to attend one of our Opera Overtures pre-opera lectures. Held one hour prior to curtain and open to subscribers, these 30-minute, casual but informative talks are a great appetizer to the entree of grand opera!
